Okay, so I'm suppose to do these cups for a favor at an upcoming women's retreat for my church. I am really into "funky" colors right now. I guess spring is putting me in the mood. I need some inspiration so here is some eye candy to inspire...

Okay, so here is what I came up with..

After all of this fun "sharpie" creating; I decided to do a JOURNAL PAGE! Love being inspired!

Have a very BLESSED and HAPPY day!

Art with a Mission
About two years ago my friends and I met two gals at a Warrenton show booth. They had some AMAZING pottery jewelry. Not only was the jewelry amazing, but so were the girls! I LOVE any person or group that helps out with MINISTRIES- I am definitely a sucker for them. These girls give half of their proceeds to helping orphanages in Africa. http://www.rebekahblocher.com/

Another great mission is http://www.acholibeads.com/. The beaded necklace in the picture is actually recycled paper. Women from the Acholi tribe of northern Uganda tribe, who were forced to flee their homes to escape Africa's longest running war made these beads. They are rebuilding their lives by creating and selling this beautiful jewelry.

-take a look- look great in beautiful jewelry- be a part of something bigger- help the world-

Beautiful-Fun-Friends-Laughter-Limousines-Dancing-Juniors-Joy
What a crazy, but fun day! I was so proud of my Lizzie!
How wonderfully made she is!

She had a wonderful night with her friends riding to their junior prom in a limo and then attending the best dance ever. She was so proud of herself, because as the junior vice-president she had the privilege to design and decorate the prom. Everyone loved it and had so much fun!"Like Mother, like Daughter", I was the chairman for the After-Prom. After-Prom is a party that continues after the prom is over to provide a safe and fun night for students. Can you say, TIRED!? It was from midnight until 4:00am. We had an amazing time watching the students enjoy inflatables, mechanical bull riding, more dancing, face painting, sumo wrestling and so much more. What a blessing it is to live in a community that loves kids so much!
Thank you God for a safe night.

Lizzie wanted a unique wrist corsage so I took some of the material from her scarf and made a "flower".
Now she has a special keepsake!

Round 2- Anderson Prom

Yes, Lizzie attended two proms! Her boyfriend attends a different school that had their prom the weekend after her's.
This time, she decided to go with a fun and funky look!

And of course, she wanted me to make her corsage again....

That's enough proms until next year....

What a Joyous Celebration

My sister and her little family came for their annual trip to our house for Easter.
They have a new baby girl named Saylor!

She's always so precious in pink and of course her mommy always dresses her up in the best.

We spent the weekend enjoying the beautiful weather and playing in nature.
The bluebonnets this time of year is one of the best reasons to live in Texas.

We spent our Easter Sunday at my in-laws and just had a great day of playing.
My sister and her son, Tripp, enjoy an Easter cupcake in the shade.

Tripp really enjoyed the cupcake!

My three year old nephew, Lawson the "pro skateboarder", tried and tried to teach Tripp how to do it right, but for some reason, it just didn't work out right...

I wonder why?

For this Easter, I decided to make my son, Jackson, something special.
I made him a shadowbox with memories of his best friend Thomas who passed away in February. I wasn't sure what his reaction would be, but when he saw the keepsake he had the sweetest look on his face and just smiled at me.

Lot's more memories to come!

Monday, April 19, 2010

Well, I'm finally doing it! I'm creating my own blog. I have been so inspired in the last year by many creative bloggers to start thinking about blogging myself. I first had to think about what I wanted my blog to reveal about me.
So I asked:
What is most important to me?
What do I spend most of my time doing?
Who do I spend most of my time with?
Who do I seem to do everything for?
Bingo, my FAMILY!
Everyday my life is centered around family, not just the three people that I share a home with but others also. My extended family, my family of friends and my church family. I am truly blessed that God has given me wonderful people to spend my life with.
So why not write about them?
Why not write about the fantastic times with them?
Why not write about the traditions and
memories I create with them?
I think it is so important to make as many memories and traditions as we can while we have the opportunity. One of my dearest friends recently lost her ten year old son, who was my son's best friend, to a tragic accident. God opened my eyes to how important time is in this little world. Time spent with the Lord. Time spent with my family that God created for me. Time spent with my cherished friends. How important it all is and how fast it goes!
So, here I go. I hope you enjoy this journey with me and
come to love the people that I am so thankful for.
